Hi Ulf! The dining room will be open from 7am to 3pm and the bakery will stay open until 5pm. Hope to see you!
7am to 3pm!
Great meal and service!
Good.Food. Stopped in to meet a friend for lunch on our way to Maine. The food was excellent as promised. The atmosphere is fun, the food is good and well priced, and the staff is attentive and accommodating. I had the Dude Burger (a special this week), my husband had the Rueben (he loved it), and our friend had the Corned Beef Had w/ Egg (also loved).Stop on in if you're in Hanover for some good food in a good environment.
They really need to pay attention to their take out orders! So tired of getting back to work to find a waffle, no syrup. Ham and cheese, no ham. Omelette and muffin, no muffin. Now they're too busy to even get some syrup! Another order in the trash, more money wasted. Fed up with Lou's!!!
We loved this fantastic restaurant! Very friendly servers, incredible food, and great diner-like ambiance! Highly recommend!
Best breakfast in the Hanover + Dartmouth area... but it's very small so do plan on waiting in line for roughly 15-20 minutes. The Cruller French Toast was sweet and delicious!
We have ordered dinners to go a couple of times during this period of physical distancing. Both meals were terrific but the pulled pork Memorial Day special was outstanding. The meals fed the two of us generously for 2 nights. Online ordering was easy and picking up was efficient. The price, including tip, was very reasonable.
Definitely a locals place ...and seems to be a favorite for section / thru hikers ...easy going and friendly staff ...being an Ivy league college town, the prices reflect that. Breakfast food was good (waffle & strawberries, eggs & home fries, heavy butter tasting pancakes meals) ...but average considering cost. Having been to different breakfast places in MA and RI, have had better flavor and portions there than here.
Great food and friendly people!
Recently switched to lower fat foods, and sure enough..Lou's had several fine choices to satisfy me It's a very cool place, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
An old standby still has great food that's worth the wait. My wife loved her burger with cheddar inside smothered in jalapeños. My pesto omelette was delicious and the muffins are amazing....
What a great place! Friendly, happy staff delicious food and great atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back!!!
My wife and I ordered an assortment of cupcakes for our vow renewal and they were the best cupcakes I have ever had. All our guests said the same think very delicious and the ordering was very easy and pickup was on time.We would definitely go back to Lou's.
This diner is very cute with lots of breakfast & lunch options. I picked the half and half lunch option with a greek salad and chicken salad sandwich. Both were delicious and I was very happy with my choice. I also got a piece of blueberry peach pie to go (their pies look made from scratch & delicious). They have tons of yummy sweet treats available & offer many gluten free options including gluten free quiche. I definitely would recommend this place!
Fifteen years since graduation, good to see nothing has changed (except for the welcome addition of gluten free French toast!). Fantastic all around... best corned beef hash on earth.
Its always Amazing!😉
I don't usually write reviews, good, bad, or indifferent, but in this case, because Lou's is an important thread in the fabric of our community, I'm making an exception. Service there has been less than satisfying. My past two attempts at take out resulted in me receiving the wrong thing. Both times I ordered soup. Both times I was given the wrong soup. Each time I didn't discover the mistake until after I returned to my office. In the big picture, it's not a big deal - luxury problem more than anything. I'm just glad it happened to me and not to someone who might be allergic to the soup they didn't choose but received. Thank you.
Amazing atmosphere and service, waitress was very accommodating and friendly. Food is also out of this world, if you come here for breakfast, try the cruller French toast it’s delicious!!
We stopped by on Labor Day and it was so packed we decided to grab coffee & a pastry to go. So we got the carrot cake and it was wonderful. So moist and soft. Pretty sweet but not TOO sweet, if you know what I mean.
Lou's is an Upper Valley tradition. I was craving a tuna melt with a pickle and key lime pie. While tuna melts are not on the menu, they made one for me. It was perfection and came with a delicious crispy dill pickle spear. The key lime pie at Lou's is always the best. Tart filling, fresh whipped cream and a shortbread crust.
Best breakfast/brunch place around Hanover. Plentiful classic American options like pancakes, waffles, muffins, etc. The burgers here are also pretty good. The staff are friendly and service is decently fast, even when it's pretty crowded. Would recommend this place if you're looking for a delicious, filling brunch!
Good food, a little pricey for a simple breakfast though. Service was lacking and it was very loud. Cute Diner that seems to have a long history within the college community. Historical photos reflect the aire of a simpler and much less diverse time.
If you want breakfast in the evening then you can forget this place. They have a limited menu in the afternoon! So for folks who can get to this place in the morning your best bet is Denny's which is kinda sad cause the breakfast menu looked good.
Great little diner/restaurant. Eat at the counter or a booth. Food was a step up from classic diner fare. Good service.
Okay, it might not be five star in the sense of fine dining, but I sure wish I lived up the street and could drop in for breakfast a few times a week. Lou’s is a throwback to the days when food was good and simple and priced for the everyday diner. The ambiance is out of the 40’s while being fresh and bright.
4 stars for the ambiance and friendly staff. 3 stars for the skimpy bowl meal. Ordered the Cowboy bowl sans bacon and expected more than a handful of spinach leaves. It tasted great but its $15 price tag seemed high.
Awesome selection of breakfast and America comfort foods. Which explains why it was so busy. There is usually a wait that may be 10 minutes or less
I was so disappointed in the Ruben, it was so FATTY and sliced thick:( I picked all the fat off and no meat left, it was soggy not to mention! Definitely turned me off! I did enjoy the mile high apple pie, that was good!
Dartmouth/Hanover institution with fabulous meals and bakery. Pancakes as big as your head, delicious apple cider doughnuts and fantastic corned beef hash. Spend way too much time here!
You can't beat this place. Classic Hanover staple. Breakfast, brunch and lunch. Amazing pastries and pies to take home also. Beast breakfast in Hanover. Kids love the large mouse faced pancakes. In the same building since the 40s. Staff very friendly. Place is popular and busy most of the time.
Loved the food loved the vibe they have great donuts and pie
Excellent breakfast in this cozy diner. Our waitress was wonderful. Great service!
The fro-cus takes the cake for best frozen dessert of Hanover
A fun local place to go for breakfast or brunch! Don't let the small town vibe fool you into thinking limited menu though - the culinary crew here is inventive and talented and always keeping their menu exciting and fresh. Their maple donuts are spectacular and the service friendly and warm. Keep in mind they are popular and there might be a wait but it's always worth it.
Good outdoor QR CODE FOR THE MENU GREAT IDEA seating and food was amazing
Always the perfect brunch spot to catch up with your friends (grab a muffin and thank me later).
Friendly helpful staff. Delicious avocado toast meal. Eating outdoors with ample space among patrons. Staff and walkers eearing masks.
We waited for over an hour to get a table and it was a mistake. By the time we got seated they had run out of two items we wanted. The food was good regardless but certainly not worth that long of a wait. It's a bit pricey too.
There is a very good reason it has been in business so long. It is worth the wait when the lines go out the door. Take some baked goods home to share with the ones you love.
Order something that gives you a reason to have their real maple syrup. Buy a little bottle to take with you too (they are under 3 oz so you can carry it on the plane...). If you're with a group, go early to avoid the wait, maybe even before 7 AM. Or go alone and sit at the counter. Note that street parking is free until 9AM.
Best breakfast place in Hanover, hands down. Their thick milkshakes/frappes are the best. Be sure to go early and on an empty stomach though. They close at 3.
The largest apple pie I have ever seen!!! I stopped in and bought a few pastries and all were very delicious. EXCEPT, for the special lemon cake which had enticed me I'm the first place. The cake was dry and the fondant did not have much lemon flavor. I want to give it another try and will definitely adjust my review up to 5 stars if that item or equivalent improves. "Did you see how big that pie was?!?!".
My absolute favorite place to have breakfast when I'm visiting in this area of Vermont/New Hampshire. If you're in the area and the wait is not too long, do NOT miss the opportunity to have a meal here--and get something from the amazing bakery counter to take with you. You will not be disappointed.
Great food but the staff is spread thin because the place is always hopping. The menu is extensive, but a little pricy....but it's Hanover, so it is what it is. We had the Rueben and the corned beef was sliced thick off the brisket. Really, really good. Some seating is tight.
Small diner with big portions, friendly staff, great coffee and food. Berry pancakes are a favorite. Be warned they are the size of a dinner plate with real strawberries and blueberries inside. Small and homey. Near Dartmouth college and several shops. Best breakfast spot. They also have pies and donuts that you can get to go. Highly recommended. You will not leave hungry. Of anything you will be full right up until dinner time. Get there early for a shorter wait time.
Jambalaya outstanding for this far north! Chocolate mousse cupcake excellent - we like this place.
The servers and staff are all really nice but SUPER slow. The pace here in New Hampshire is A LOT slower than in Boston.Food was decent but did not meet expectations with all the good reviews. It didn't blow me away and the portions were small considering the price.Omelette with veggies was thick and cooked very well. But was slightly small. Salmon Benedict with homefries was interesting - no hollandaise sauce. Eggs were super small and lacked flavor. Salmon was cooked into a hash which was interesting and it tasted interesting too...very salty and it wasn't bad but I probably wouldn't get it again. The blueberry muffins and cranberry orange muffins were standard and seemed like they were bought from the store vs. baked freshly at the restaurant. But they were warm to touch when presented. Definitely do the to-go option if you in a hurry. But the place is super cute.
Limited seating so there is always a wait, but breakfast and their bakery items were good.
nice..wish I had time for pie..
Best breakfast in town. Old school deliciousness.
Chocolate custard ice cream brought me back to my childhood days. Love to see it.
